Educator Pledge

SIGN THE EDUCATOR PLEDGE

Voting is critical to the future of our democracy.

As teachers, professors, school administrators, and staff, we believe that every student who is eligible to vote should have the opportunity to do so. Part of our responsibility as educators is to help young people recognize that their voices matter. And yet, in the last midterm election, less than 20% of 18-29 year olds voted. We hope that all students, no matter who they support, will make their voices heard at the ballot box this November.

By signing this pledge, we commit to encouraging our students to vote on Election Day -- November 6, 2018. We will make every effort to accommodate students as they seek to participate in our democracy, including by recording classes and distributing notes. We will help to provide information about voter registration and polling places. And, where possible, we will excuse temporary absences for students who are exercising their right to vote, or reschedule our classes altogether. We hope our colleagues will do the same.

Signed,

[Name], [Title], [School], [Town, State]
